Orioles lose 11th in a row and other sports thoughts

ESPN.com - MLB - Recap

The good news is football season is almost here. 11 in a row! Yuck. It’s not like I thought they would go to the post season, but maybe at least stay above 500 and keep third place. Its all pitching … well a lot of its pitching.

Speaking of football … My fantasy draft is Sunday … stay tuned!

The Men’s Olympic basketball team is now playing for the Bronze. On the bright side US Women’s Softball and US Women’s Soccer have won the gold. And the US Women’s Basketball Team is playing for the Gold. I still haven’t watched much of the Olympics. Seems kind of pointless. I know all of the results before NBC bothers to air the events. It just seems too packaged to me.

In the NFL Preseason game apparently Eli Manning had a rough night. What’s surprising is that anyone is surprised about this. I don’t care how good he is… he’s still a rookie. And part of me (the part that bleeds purple and black) is happy to hear it. A lot of teams have rookie or second year quarterbacks right now and those teams know that the kids will have some bumps along the way. But since Eli is in the Big Apple everyone acts like he’s going to be as good as … oh just Peyton… overnight. What short memories we have. Everyone knew Peyton was gonna be good, but he’s just in the past two season’s really started to come into his own.
The Ravens face the Lions tomorrow night. Still with a weak secondary, but should be able to put on a good show. I am really looking forward to seeing Randy Hymes get some time at Wide Receiver since Travis Taylor probably won’t play. And BJ Sams will have a chance to beat out Lamont Brightful for the Return Specialist position.

Anyone want to venture I guess as to how many the O’s will drop before they break this streak. I’m scared to even think about it.
